❤ December 2012 Conditioner Recipe...

Every month I am going to mix up a batch of conditioner using different oils and different natural ingredients. I will always have my new staple deep conditioner which is the Organic Root Stimulator Replenishing Conditioner. That conditioner is wonderful to my tresses not to mention I love the orangey smell it has. I hair always feel stronger after each use which is why I will never stray away from it. It will always have a home under my sink, however, I am going to try my hand at mixing up different ingredients to see how it works for my hair.

I am 11 months into my hair journey post big chop and I have only had two major set backs. The first was a few months ago I put a Dark & Lovely permanent hair color in my hair (boredom can bite you in the ass!) and concentrated it in the front and noticed some breakage in the front. It is growing out though so now I will only stick to semi and demi permanent rinses. If you want to see how the dye job with the Dark & Lovely Golden Bronze turned out check the video here.

The second setback was having to clip off my split ends. The ends were pretty scraggly and I realized I had to let them go so I can make some real progress with my hair. So, in retrospect, it was and was not a setback...depends on how you look at it!

Anywho, the real purpose of this post is my conditioner mix for December. I am learning not to be heavy handed with my products because believe it or not a little can go a long way!

The Staring Line Up
- ORS Replenishing Conditioner (Base)
  Great Moisture + Protein Balance
- Raw Organic Honey
Humectant + Provides Vitamins & Minerals
- Aloe Vera Juice
PH balancer + Aids in itchy scalp + Promotes Growth
- Coconut Oil
Helps Keep Protein in Hair + Moisturizing + Keeps Hair Shaft Strong

This is what is looks like mixed together. It has a nice creamy consistency.

Be careful when mixing it up not to put too much Aloe Vera Juice or it will result in a very liquidy mixture. Here are my recommendations for the amounts of each ingredients to use:

     Raw Organic Honey: 2 tbsp
Aloe Vera Juice: 1/4 cup
ORS Conditioner: 1 Cup
(depending on how much hair you have, you may have to guestimate!)
Coconut Oil: 3 tbsp

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time (in your strands): Min 30 Minutes to 1 Hour
Yields: 2 uses (depending on how much hair you have!)

This is how it looks like in my hair. My hair is growing out in layers.

(Don't mind the extra bags under my eyes...tiredness...)

You can use heat or put a cap on like I do and just walk around the house. I have to section my hair now because it is getting a bit longer and it is very thick and I want to make sure I get the conditioner all up in the hair. I rinse it out with cold water and proceed to air dry with leave ins.
Freshly rinsed out.

My Results:
I adore this mixture mainly because the ingredients are super beneficial to hair and health in general. My was was very soft and still felt very strong after I washed it out. No definite curl definition...then again my curls are never defined when rinsed out...I have MAJOR shrinkage going on  here tho! The smell was awesome, of course. This may be a favorite one to come back to.

Did you try this recipe? How did it work out for you? Let me know!

My Foundation Routine

I know that Revlon has come out with the new Nearly Naked Foundation but since Florida is so slow in getting it and I did not want to wait until January whenever they hit the shelves I picked up the L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Foundation to hold me over. I have hear a lot of good reviews on this particular foundation and they offer a wide range of shades for every complexion. They over different shades in the warm, cool, and neutral range. I picked up the wrong color at first and then had to return it. That's the thing with the drugstore you have to put in the work to match your color sometimes!

My shade is Classic Tan. The price at CVS was $10.99.

Here it is swatched  and blended. Blends really well doesn't it?

I had been reluctant before to buy any liquid foundations because I figured they broke me out. I am taking extra good care of my skin lately (skin routine and products coming soon!) and realized that I can not wear full coverage foundations. Those are the ones that take a toll on my skin. Besides I live in Florida where the weather is cray cray, so I stick to light to medium.

Don't mind my look...I am in the car on the way to work. Has a very natural feel to me...
BTW: I am wearing Covergirl Queen Lipstick in Divine...my favorite lippy.

I have to say I like the feel of this foundation. It does feel natural. I use my flat top brush from ELF studio line and blend it well into my skin and use my Ben Nye Neutral Set to set the foundation. It has an SPF of 17 which is a plus. The biggest CON to this foundation is that it has no pump, so when you are pouring it out it can get pretty messy and a lot can come out as you can see from the picture above. Other than than that, the price is okay and the QUALITY is truly great.

I am still in the market for the Revlon Nearly Naked and will update you when I purchase that one!

Let me know what you think and if you use this foundation!

What's your experience with the True Match line of products?

 Til next time,
